Very nice piece Bill. In addition I also found his piece a bit offensive in one regard. In addition to his reasons for "trust trends", Blow seems to state that all republicans, a third of democrats and half of independents are A) either too stupid to understand, B) Racist against a black man(which is very troublesome to me when he fails to point out the number of people who supported Obama yet do not back him in this current health care crusade), or C) the current unrest is a normal ebb and flow of the political tide and has nothing to do with the gargantuan unpopularity of an ever expanding role of federal government. Either way, It smells like there might be some personal sentiment involved here on Blows behave.

Bill,

Very interesting piece. I agree that the numbers relied on by Charles Blow do not appear reliable, if for no other reason that his sample data is too small. Certainly, the lack of trust for government right now has as much to do with the declining trust in the George W. Bush administration during his last six years in office, as any lack of trust for a Democratic administration.
