The notebook, netbook, iPhone, iPod, digital camera killer that hangs from your neck

I’ve seen a lot of amazing technology lately, but Pranav Mistry’s SixthSense device takes the cake.  Mistry’s goal is to truly meld the digital and physical worlds–going beyond mere AR (augmented reality) and touch-based interfaces–by eliminating the handheld interface altogether. Mistry’s device allows the wearer to take pictures, dial a phone, and edit documents simply through hand gestures. Any wall or 8×11 piece of paper will do as a display.  This kind of innovation isn’t just about improving on existing devices and capturing their market share–it’s utterly disruptive in the transformational sense.  Truly amazing stuff.
