Composition of the US Job Market in 2018

In November of 2009, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics released a study projecting what the jobs landscape would look like across various sectors in the year 2018.  NPR published an interactive infographic illustrating the BLS’s forecasts.

Not surprisingly, the BLS report forecasts the steepest decrease in the manufacturing industry, while services and health care are projected to see a 20%+ increase.  What really caught my eye were the two outliers–textile and apparel production projects to a 47.9% decrease while consulting services project to a 82.8% increase in the next 10 years.

Guess I am in the right business…
